Tazio #6 - English
A legendary rally car, a fast diesel, many Porsches and, and, and ... The sixth issue of the fine magazine "Tazio" again offers motorsport at its best. The focus is on the cover story about the Lancia Stratos that Sandro Munari drove in the 1975 Safari Rally.
The authors are two acknowledged connoisseurs: Helmut Deimel and Reinhard Klein were not only big fans of the African event and attended numerous editions, the well-known rally filmmaker and the gifted rally photographer and McKlein founder tracked down the wreckage of the once-abandoned Stratos in a Kenyan backyard and, of course, were there when the restored car was the star of the Eifel Rally Festival.
Other topics include a veritable diesel racer that once took pole position at the Indy 500 and the first instalment of a major story on the legendary IROC, the International Race of Champions, in which Emerson Fittipaldi, Mark Donohue, Peter Revson, AJ Foyt and Richard Petty, among others, competed in identical Porsche 911s in 1973/74. In addition, there are reports on Achille Varzi, the arch-rival of Tazio Nuvolari, who wanted to try it again in 1948 and competed with the powerful twelve-cylinder Alfa Romeo 12C/136, on a Portuguese Ferrari 160 MM with an exciting history, on the Morgan Plus 8 GTR and on five-time Nascar Cup champion Jimmie Johnson.
The magazine with the name of the "Flying Mantovan", who among other things made the Silver Arrows look old at the Nürburgring in 1935 in an Alfa Romeo, is published by Johan Dillen and Dirk de Jager. The finely designed magazine is dedicated to the most exciting and important moments in motorsport history.
