In the early Nineties, Manta drivers were the laughing stock among car drivers. Anyone who drove a Manta was considered at least a little ridiculous. But Opel had had quite a good idea turning the plain Ascona into a smart coupé and a strong contender for Ford’s Capri. It worked so well that the next edition followed in 1976. In twelve years the Manta was offered in countless variants until it was replaced by the Calibra. Today, the Manta has long since matured into a veritable classic, to which Alexander F.
