46: The Birth of Porsche Motorsport tells the story of how Porsche rose from the ashes of the Second World War and overcame multiple trials and near disasters to compete and set new records with 356/2 SL 063 at Le Mans, the Liège-Rome-Liège Rally and at Montlhéry. This set the company on its way to becoming the juggernaut that is Porsche Motorsport. After arriving in the US, SL 356/2 063 enjoyed racing victories under John von Neumann, and it became a mainstay at the Monterey Historic Races. When Cameron Healy bought the car, he assembled a team that confirmed that SL 063 was the 1951 Porsche Le Mans entry and class winner. Over several years, the car was restored to the state it was in when first presented Le Mans.

The book includes a wealth of archival photographs and documents that have never been previously published, along with a unique look at the car’s US history. It is a compilation of contributions from the following experts: Randy Leffingwell, Doug Nye, Sean Cridland, Will Edgar, Gary Horstkorta, Rod Emory, Chris Greenwood, with Jeff Zwart, Cameron Healy, Patrick Long, Bill Wagenblatt, Tony Hatter, and Herbert Linge.
