There were no fewer than twelve different race winners and the title fight had the suspense of a Hitchcock thriller right up to the last race. In the end, a rookie rocked the DTM and made the experienced drivers look pale. In a dramatic final act, Audi driver René Rast secured the championship at Hockenheim ahead of his brand colleagues Mattias Ekström, Jamie Green and Mike Rockenfeller.
